FIDUCIARY SESSION
TOPICS: Sunday, September 30, 2007
8:15 - 9:15 a.m.
"Maintaining a Prudent Process: The Key to Ongoing Fiduciary Compliance & Marketing Leverage"
- Donald Settina, CFP, AIFA, PPC, President & CEO, Financial Service Standards, LLC (PPC)
A prudent process is not a one-time effort. Keeping a plan current with regulatory requirements and legislative changes requires an ongoing process of monitoring and maintenance. This session will show attendees how to implement a simple process that eliminates shortfalls in existing plans and captures new business. The 401k Service Solution™, which will be demonstrated in this class, will enable attendees to elevate the standards of their existing plans, move up market and grow their business. Free monitoring tools will be given out at the end of the class.
9:30 - 10:30
a.m. "Plan
Management 101: How Sponsors Need to Document Fiduciary Compliance" - Sharon Pivirotto, PPC, AIF, VP, Financial Service Standards, LLC
This session will review the responsibilities plan sponsors cannot delegate and address internal plan management needs. The Fiduciary Briefcase, which includes ten different documents to help plan sponsors, will also be discussed. The class will further demonstrate how these tools add value to existing relationships and open doors to new prospects.
10:45 - 11:45
a.m. "Meeting
Global Fiduciary Standards of Care: How to Prepare Your Practice for an ERISA Audit"
- Donald Settina, CFP, AIFA, PPC, President & CEO, Financial Service Standards, LLC (PPC)
- Sharon Pivirotto, AIF, PPC, VP, Financial Service Standards, LLC
This session is a must for advisors that have read the Prudent Practices for Advisors Handbook, published by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, and are considering a Global Fiduciary Standards of Care audit in order to receive the CEFEX certification. Advisor shops that want to document compliance with best practices must adhere to a stringent list of requirements and show written proof that the guidelines are being applied. This session will review common shortfalls at the advisor level and discuss tools developed to help meet the basic industry requirements that facilitate certification.
